How long to damage pool motor if it runs dry?
I was draining excess water out after some storms and of course forgot. Probably only ran dry for about an hour or so. Filled pool back up but afraid to turn pool on. Can damage have been done in a short time frame. System was replaced 3 years ago so its a fairly new pump and motor?
UPDATE - I turned it on this morning and the system primed itself and everything seems to be running fine. And not I realize I should have said pump ran dry and not the motor 
It is probably fine. It might not be a bad idea to let it cool down, but turning it back on after it's fairly cool won't make it break more. It's either fine or already broken, but you shouldn't damage it anymore by turning it on now.
