Uses of Brass
Brass metals are essential in building construction. They are used to hold iron and steel posts together. In computer technology, brass rods fasten internal components of computer systems. Sensitive parts in monitors and motherboards are held together by brass rods. Moreover, tubes in water pipelines are made up of brass. In the United States, most contractors use brass tubes and pipes in installing downspouts and gutters. Brass tubes and pipes have different sizes, shapes, and styles.
There are different kinds of brass metals. These are bars, wires, rods, foils, strips, plates, and sheets. In the metal industry, these are collectively known as brass stocks. Rods and wires are used in producing screws, bolts, and locks. On the other hand, brass bars support railings and machineries. Brass sheets, plates, strips, and plates are used for interior design and structural engineering. The most commonly used brass stock is brass sheet.
Brass sheets resemble plywood, albeit they are thinner than plywood. Brass sheets have a depth of about 5mm. They are produced by subsequent heating and rolling. During manufacturing, brass makers trim down oxidized parts on sheet surfaces. This smoothens and flattens surface of brass sheets. Likewise, it enhances luster on brass surfaces. Manufacturers conduct quality control before delivering brass sheets to distributors. They ensure brass products are adequately-shaped and properly-cut in specific length and width.
Brass sheets have many functions. They are used in making door knobs, hinges, and locks. Brass suppliers create different shapes and styles for door knobs. Brass metals are durable and heavy-duty. Hence, they are also used for chain and round locks in front doors. Lock manufacturers use brass in making padlocks. They are stronger than other metals. Likewise, they are rust-resistant. Keys easily slide through holes of brass padlocks.
Brass suppliers provide raw materials for manufacturers of music instruments. Most music instruments are made up of brass metals. These are trumpets, tubas, coronets, trombones, and flugelhorns. Brass shells and planes produce good sound. Military music groups use brass bugles in their daily ceremonies.
Furthermore, sheet brass suppliers play a significant role in the arts and crafts industry. Nowadays, brass metals are used in creating pots, bowls, and vases. Brass is a good material for design. They have a shiny surface, and they can be dyed with different colors.

Quick way to oxidize copper with household chemicals?
I have a piece of metal here and I'm not sure if it's copper or brass, but I need to find out. I figure the easiest way to find out is to oxidize some of it and see if it turns green, correct? Could anyone give me a method that will oxidize copper relatively quickly?
Visually: Copper is brownish-red, like a penny. Brass is a golden color.
Oxidizing: Copper will oxidize more easily than brass. Copper oxides are green or blue, and brass oxides are black. Add a bit of acid--vinegar or lemon juice are acidic household chemicals. At first it may get shinier. Oxidation can be hastened by using hydrogen peroxide (found in a brown bottle at the drugstore) in addition to the acid.

Brass in Everyday Lifestyle
Brass is a muted yellow-colored metal with resemblance to gold. It is the alloy of copper and zinc. Brass is much easier to cast than the two metals, with its softness or hardness depends on the ratio of both copper and zinc to be melted together. Wind musical instruments such as the trumpet, trombone, tuba, saxophone, and others are all made of brass, as well as a lot of coins, lamps, fixtures, and other hardware found at home.
Brass products that do not have any protective layer on them can oxidize easily on contact with water, even at its vapor state. In order to prevent brass from tarnishing, you could try out an improvised method, such as protective paste coating from a cup of white vinegar, three tablespoons of flour, salt, cream of tartar, and five drops of citrus oil. You could also soak the brass item into a mixture of equal parts of milk and warm water or in a cola to fade and loosen the tarnishing surface.
Chemical cleaners like metal polishing, restoring, and cleaning agents are available in hardware or drug stores, as well as on handicraft or hobby shops. These products can also be ordered online from different shopping web sites.
These commercial brass cleaning products are encourage to be used by any brass distributor, have protective oils in them to prevent the oxidizing agents from tarnishing the surface of the brass items, thus making them last longer and look much prettier.
Every brass distributor can now supply brass products that have antibacterial properties that can kill microbes that can be found in kitchens, bathrooms, hospitals, and other places that need to be constantly clean and sterile. After all, copper, an ingredient of brass, is used to sterilize cuts and wounds, cure body aches, burns, and even arthritis.
