Can I install a handheld shower without having to rip out the walls and install a transfer valve?
I want this install this handshower kit from Kohler: http://www.us.kohler.com/onlinecatalog/detail.jsp?item=13597002. I was told by a plumber that this will not connect on to my existing shower head and that a line will have to be plumbed to this, with a supply elbow coming out of the wall and on top of my shower head diverter, I will need to install a transfer valve as well. Is this true? Kohler's installation guide gives no good information, so I am hoping someone on here has some good insight. Thanks!

Hi Bullman, I posted the model # above. Sorry about that! I do not have a photo of my shower but currently we have a 34x36 walk-in shower with this showerhead and faucet from Kohler: Forté® Rite-Temp® pressure-balancing shower faucet trim - K-T10276-4
you do not have to replumb your shower faucet if you wish to eliminate the shower head and arm and just have the handheld shower available for use. this simply can attach to the existing arm by removing and attaching the new compnents for this one style of handheldshower. you then control the water temp and flo by your current single handle shower faucet. otherwise, check this one model MasterShower® showerarm and diverter- K-9511 best luck
