No.7 Blooming Rose in Fashion World - Louis Vuitton Alma MM Roses

I tried to use the things in Stephen's vocabulary, and give the collection the shape, silhouette and styling that Stephen would have done when he was at the top of his game. It really is a complete homage, and a complete combination of what is Louis Vuitton, and what is this legendary icon, and then what are the icons and the lasting aesthetics that Stephen left in the fashion world." - Marc Jacobs

2009 is a year to memorialize the great American artist Stephen Sprouse in the House of Louis Vuitton. Marc Jacobs chose to revisit the two motifs which, for him, best represent the legacy of Stephen Sprouse at Louis Vuitton: the graffiti and the rose. After the huge success of the limited-edition Stephen Sprouse collection, Stephen Sprouse’s rose motif appears on the Alma bag which was launched in new, eye-popping shades of glossy Monogram Vernis leather.

The classical Alma MM in Monogram Vernis leather is revamped with the Roses pattern of the artist. The Louis Vuitton Alma MM Roses bag is discreetly embossed Monogram Vernis leather, textile lining, plain vernis leather trimmings. The golden brass pieces and double brass pieces opening and padlock and removable key holder make the liquid-like appearance more elegant and delicate. The bag measures 15.1" x 11.2" x 7.3" and the inner phone and patch pockets add its practicality. With discreet Louis Vuitton signature and flashy colors, Rose Pop, Vert Tonic and Orange Sunset, the Louis Vuitton Alma MM Roses Bags gives us the grant fashion banquet in this spring/summer.

We cannot deny that the essence of this bag is the rose motif. There is a story behind this rose design. In the mid-1970s, the designer got his hands on a state-of-the-art Xerox color copier, and started to enlarge images multiple times until they became distorted and abstract. And then the rose was used to mark his ‘thank you’ cards. In 2000, the rose featured on ready-to-wear and now takes its place as a Stephen Sprouse icon on the Louis Vuitton Alma MM Roses Bags. Now this bag, as a full-blown rose, is blooming in the fashion stage.

Will my hydrangeas rebloom? They were huge w/ blooms and when the blooms turned brown I cut them all down....?

They have grown again with leaves and I don't see any more dead wood stems but they aren't blooming the big beautiful blue blooms that they were before I cut it back? Did I mess them up???

I cut them all down.... ??..... you cut off all the stems/branches?... then yes, you cut off all the 'old wood' that would have had the bloom buds on it this spring... don't cut it again until after it blooms next spring and then cut it down if you must, but not after June....by then, the plant is making the buds for the next year's bloom.... you have to let the plant grow!!.... they're not meant to be knee high!... these are big beautiful bushes!!....

Are Algae Blooms Becoming More Problematic?

An Algae bloom is a fast rise in the amount of algae in an aquatic system. These can happen in fresh water or marine environments. Usually just a single or small amount of phytoplankton species are involves, and certain blooms are identified from discoloured water that results from the increased density of pigmented cells.

Algae grow in nearly all places across the world. They are an essential part of the aquatic ecosystem that gives food and protection to other organisms. They play a key part in the ability of the aquatic ecosystem absorbing nutrients and heavy metals. There are around 3000 freshwater species in UK alone and the amount rises all the time.

Most kinds of algae formulate blooms although not every algal bloom is poisonous. Certain blooms like the blooms from diatoms are essential to the health of the ecosystem. Scientists use the abbreviation (HAB) to mean "Harmful Algal Bloom". There are a lot of single celled organisms that live in the oceans, including algae and dinoflagellates.

Algae that is harmful can cause damage through the toxins that they produce or through their accumulated biomass. This can have an affect with organisms and change food - web dynamics. Impacts of this include illness to humans and death if HAB toxins have been consumed or if contact has occurred. This results in huge economic loss in coastal communities and commercial fisheries.

This is a natural occurring phenomenon although it can amount to huge loss. Around 300 species of micro algae are documented at times to make mass occurrence, so called blooms. Individual species blooms are able to make the water turn red, brown, yellow, green or white and are usually generically named "red tides". "Red tides" are commonly connected with harmful or poisonous effects.

In more recent times there has been an increased fear concerning an epidemic of HABs globally. In the majority of places HABs are arising more often happening over bigger areas and lasting for a longer period. HABs are also being documented in areas where they would previously have not been found. In certain situations, algae that were usually benign or even not heard of, have suddenly become a problem.

HABs can be very harmful; they can kill marine life causing major losses to aquaculture operations. Certain toxic species can make humans ill and are contracted by inhaling airborne poisons, skin contact or, more often by consuming contaminated shellfish. These poisons can result in loss of memory, stomach cramping, sickness, amnesia, paralysis and in some cases fatality.

About the Author

The onset of the red tide that poisons shellfish and sea mammals, as well as kills marine life is through algae bloom.
