What is usual height of chair molding?
I want to place a chair molding type addition to bathroom wall and do not know at what height to place the molding. I will be separating painted from wallpaper.
Usually the chair rail is between 30" and 36" depending on the ceiling height and other factors.
If you are installing the rail in a bathroom you might want to consider the height of the vanity top or sink height if you have a pedestal sink.
Also, if you have a window where the lower edge is close to the height of the intended chair rail you might want to change the height of the rail to include the window sill. Just use some painter's tape to lay it out and stand back and take a look and see if changing the height of the railing a couple of inches would make the features of the room tie together better.
Choose a chair rail molding that is in scale to the room. Usually heavier molding is a better direction of you are unsure.
