Tipson how to buy nice bird house

Buying a bird house kit is one way of doing that, but making your own bird house is very easy.

If you're interested in one particular species then it may help to put out a bird feeder too. Different birds prefer different foods as well as different bird houses. By putting out the correct food you increase your chances of your bird using your bird house. Learning something new by the child and yourself will build memories that will last forever.

Whichever way you decide to go, whether to buy a bird house kits or build from scratch you should emphasize how much fun you are having. And also, you're making a difference in the world. By including your children you are opening their eyes to mother nature and possibly changing their lives forever.

When you have completed the project and have yours hanging in the tree and see birds using it you will feel pride and you will get pleasure just from watching our feathered friends. The best way to attract the is to put birdhouses in you yard. They love to eat different kind of insects such as mosquitoes, beetles, dragonflies and moths. They also prefer grassy open stream sides, large forest openings close to lakes and ponds or even river bottom lands.

Purple Martins are the only kind of birds that are totally dependent to humans especially on providing them a place where they can live with. The food in these feeders will keep the birds from getting hungry no matter what season of the year it is. The birdfeeders can be found in many different styles of figurines incorporated into the feeding dishes. Add some seed each day to keep the feathered friends coming by.

Don't forget to add a bird bath, to the bird houses, for the birdies to splash in. This could be in the form of a pond, stream or as simple as putting a bird bath in the garden. Keep the bird bath water fresh or they may want to move out. Birds will nest where water is abundant and not too far away.

Second, in order to better your odds you can supply them with a food source near the bird house as this will keep them coming back and eventually take home in your offering. There are many vendors that sell squirrel proof bird feeders for your garden and they work quite well.

Third and most important, try to place the bird house in an area where there is very little human traffic and safe from all predators. This is most important because the birds want to feel safe and if the house is hung by a children's play set or by a sidewalk that has people walking by daily then the chances are the birds will not feel safe and move on. Make sure natural predators can't get to the house such as cats, snakes, or any other natural predator you have in your area.

Lastly, face the bird house with the back facing the wind. For instance, if the wind normally comes from the west you'll want to set it up with the entrance facing east. This will allow the birds to stay dry when it rains and allow them to stay warm on those cooler spring nights.

How long after you put a birdhouse up will birds move in?

In the beginning of summer I put 2 birdhouses in our yard. I am not sure if anyone had made any of them their homes yet, but I am curious how long would it take for a bird to move into a new birdhouse.

Well, most birds use bird houses to build nests in, and being that breeding season was probably over BEFORE you put the bird houses up you may not see birds using them until next spring. People seem to forget that birds don't live in nests or bird houses..they use them to reproduce in. However, there is the chance that a bird may use this box as a place to roost or sleep in a night, especially in the case of bad weather..so just leave it up. This way, all the local birds will know it's location for next years breeding season. During breeding season...NEVER put food in or near a bird house (like another answer suggested)..this will only attract predators to the nest who may eat the eggs and baby birds.
